Secure Your Building Through A Better Lock on Your Intercom Panel
Lock Doctor has developed a stainless steel patent-pending security upgrade that addresses a critical vulnerability found in many intercom panel systems.
Intercoms at the entrances to apartment buildings, stratas and office buildings typically help to secure the premises against unwarranted entry, 24 hours a day. However a few years ago the Lock Doctor team became aware of a weekness in many Canada Post Lock cylinder installations used by various intercom manufacturers.
The intercom panel displays a small lock at the bottom of the panel below the keypad. These faulty cylinders can be manipulated with tools like wrenches or pliers, allowing unauthorized individuals to rotate the cylinder, activate the internal switch, and gain entry. Canada Post employees, who enter these buildings frequently, identified the need for a better locking mechanism.
To comply with Canada Post specifications, Lock Doctor has designed and now sells the Intercom Postal Cylinder Guard (IPCG)—an innovative retrofit solution that prevents tampering with the Canada Post Lock. This upgraded solution from Lock Doctor has been recommended by Canada Post as an effective corrective measure, enabling previously non-compliant intercom panels to meet Canada Post’s security standards. Canada Post has looked at our IPCG product and approved this for your use.
The IPCG has been installed on several different intercom manufacturers’ hardware platforms and consistently works as a simple yet powerful way to enhance building security and protect against unauthorized access.
